Mexico FTR Trader
Position leads the build-out of a Mexico FTR trading platform/desk including analytics (power flow and dispatch models) to trade in monthly, balance of the year and annual auctions. Key responsibilities include running production cost models for Mexico’s new power market, transmission and congestion research, price forecasting, and identifying strategies for the Mexico auctions. The position will take a quantitative approach to building the models and trading tools and will use both data mining and fundamental analysis techniques.
Professional and educational qualifications include a Masters or PhD in electrical engineering (power systems focus) with 3-7 years of related transmission trading experience; prior experience with profitable bidding into the FTR/CRR auctions in one or more ISOs (PJM or NYISO or ISO-NE or MISO or ERCOT or SPP or CaISO); strong congestion modeling and programming skills; and Spanish speaking skills to interpret tariffs/market rules and attend Mexico market meetings/industry events, etc.
